Mekong Xpress burst onto the scene with their debut album Common Knowledge, released in October 2018 via EggHunt Records. Born out of a weekly residency at The Answer Brewpub that began in 2013, this Richmond-based group channeled years of live performance energy into a 9-track collection that serves as a love letter to the music they grew up on.

Common Knowledge is a richly textured blend of rock, R&B, funk, and southern gospel, drawing inspiration from a remarkably wide range of artists — from Claude Debussy and Bob Dylan to James Brown, Marvin Gaye, and Prince. Hazy guitars, bluesy brass, melodic keys, and layered vocals come together to create a sound that pays homage to the rock legends of the '60s and '70s while feeling entirely fresh. This release also comes with a custom inner sleeve, making it a well-crafted package for fans of the genre.
